What is a Giclee?-A giclee (zhee-klay) is a limited edition, high quality reproduction of an original work of art. The process is typically found in museums, art galleries and photographic galleries, as there is minimal deterioration in image quality or color over time. Federico Carosio produces giclees of many of his original works of art – typically 50 but no more than 100. An image of a painting is generated from high-resolution digital scans and printed with archival quality inks onto canvas. Carosio then lacquers the canvas and goes back and touches up the painting with the same acrylic paint used on the original. Once finished, he re-lacquers the entire canvas, then signs and numbers the giclee.
